When the dog's away...

This is what has been going on at my place in LA while Carlotta and I have been off on our Summer Adventures...

The cats must play! So cute.

On a crafty note- I have been knitting and sewing like coocoo. My class in PDX was truly so inspiring I've finished 1 skirt and started on 2 others (will take some pics this week as they are Fabulous!) and have finished another One Skein Wonder shrug.

This has seriously got to be my most favorite knitting pattern. So easy and the results are just stunning! I've even started another in silver that I can assume will be just gorgeous when it's done!

and the silver shrug knitted on size 13s-

I also went my first ever knitting meeting. So much fun! The North End knitters met at this really cool bookstore / pub in the Ravenna neighborhood. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. I totally felt like Charo on the Loveboat as the special guest star!

Summer Adventures in the Pacific NW!

I am in Seattle for the month of August and having a fantabulous time! My partner n' Crime and I drove up a few weeks ago in Lola w/ my dreamy Carlotta in tow.

I love taking the break from LA and getting to experience a real life "City" existence here. Ah, so nice to be able to walk places! Because of course, "Nobody Walks in LA"...

We stumbled upon Shortys in Belltown which is jam-packed with video games and pin ball machines from way back when. They also create a mean hot dog! Funny, though I haven't eaten a dog since I was 16 and became a vegetarian. But for entertainment purposes only...

I also ventured to PDX where I was lucky enough to teach a super fun class at the DIY Lounge. For those of you in the Portland area- do yourself a favor and check it out. www.diylounge.com they have so many fun crafty classes! My class "Recycled Clothing Fun" was a hit I'm happy to report! Everyone made such amazing and varied projects out of the same idea to take a shirt or 2 and refashion them into a fabulous skirt.

I loved teaching the class and am hoping to be coming back for an encore performance sometime this Fall. Will keep u posted!

Also had a chance to spend some fun time with one of my BFs that I've known since the Eighth grade and attend her Housewarming party. All n all so far a very fun trip..

The Stanley Cup!

Yesterday I was walking down La Brea Avenue with my friend and we passed by this huge white van with its doors open. I looked in and strapped to one of the back passenger seats was none other than- The Stanley Cup! I have to say I was SO excited! This is the type of bizarre Celebrity Sighting I love. Just something so way random you gotta laugh!

For those of you who have NO idea what I'm talking about- The Stanley Cup is a Hockey thing. It's what the Champions for that year get to commemorate their winning. They get it only for the year and they can pretty much do what ever they want with it. Which has led to some rip-roaring raunchy times I imagine. Legend has it that it has been lost more than a few times, has been peed on and thrown up on, attended countless weddings, funerals, and G-d only knows what else! It is probably one of the most famous trophies in History! And it all started because Hockey needed a prize and a guy named "Stanley" had a silver cup! Very cool to see it I must admit!

Well I haven't written in forever. I have SO much new fun things going on and have been busy as pie. But promise that I will now make a habit of writing often- even if it's just me, my dog and friend Kara who read the ramblings! Have a fantabulous day and if ya get HGTV or DIY- 2 of my Craft Show episodes of Uncommon Threads are airing today- so that's twice the Candiland fun!

Candiland goes to Germany

I've never been to Germany- though I'm sure I'd LOVE it. But years ago a friend of mine in SF opened up a boutique there and carried my clothing line. So somewhere in the nethers of Berlin, fabulous German girls are running around in my dresses!

So fast forward to now and I've just been interviewed by a fun girl for a German Business Magazine called "Spotlight" or something to that effect. Very cool. I've personally never been there yet in a sense my company has!

The article probably won't be out for a bit so will keep ya posted!

In other news, my BF is finally coming home. He's been on a 2-week baseball jaunt to the Mid-West and I miss him terribly!

Usually when he goes on vacation, I'm like GOOD! See ya! Bring me Presents! Then proceed to spend the whole time livin' it up like a Bachelorette- having girls over, drinking wine til dawn, eating while standing at the kitchen sink, having ice cream for dinner while I'm wearing a face mask and painting my toes leopard print- happy to have the place to myself!

But this time, I totally missed my partner in crime! So am VERY happy he's heading home! Now, he can help me upload all my crafty photos so my Blog has some flavor!

Strange Dreams and the Scott Peterson Madness

I woke up in the deep middle of the night sweating like mad and shaking. I was in a dream in which I was dating Scott Peterson. And I knew that he had killed his wife and where the body was!

We were at Lacy's parents house on Easter and acting as though everything was normal. I was outside in the yard with this small girl and she took me aside and said " I know that you were with Scott when he buried her. " I almost choked and said "What??" She said "I saw you. You looked just like you do now but you were wearing a beret." I knew she was on to me because I always wear berets in Winter. I said "That is just not true. Did you tell anybody else about this?" She said "No, but they know that Scott killed Lacy and the cops are on their way..."

I ran in the house where the family had Scott concerned and was trying to get him to confess." I screamed that I had nothing what so ever to do with her death. Her mother looked me square in the eye and said "You may not have. But you knew and you didn't say a word. That makes you just as guilty as he..."

All of a sudden there were the sounds of screaming sirens and police were surrounding the house and I was going to be arrested as well. I have never been SO scared in my life. I turned to her dad and said " I had nothing to do with this." He said "Don't look at me, I can't help you, I just live here..." With that I woke up! Whew I was SO grateful to find myself in my bed with my boyfriend and dog sleeping silently beside me. My biggest fear is going to jail and I swear I could almost feel the cuffs on me!

Still getting used to it all!

Ah, I am really trying to get in the habit du jour of writing my blogs. I am currently working on my novel. So writing that in itself has been a lot! But fun news is we are working on getting up my new and improved fabulous website. I'll have a link to my blog and then am sure will feel like writing ALL the time!

Have came up with a fun new class that I am going to be teaching here in LA. Bake n' Craft! I am hoping to get this going later in the month. My dream is to be the cool Martha and teach all far and wide how to bake and make fabulous things!

Also, yesterday we lost power here in the City of Angels. It was SO spooky to see my street just blanketed in darkness. But one good thing came out of it. I learned I can knit in the dark! Well really was by candlelight but yes, I am really happy to have discovered a new skill!

Well Happy Friday the 13th!! May it be everything you hoped it to be!

The Key and the Big Switch-over

Alas, I am going to switch over to this blog and abandon my Myspace one (sniff.) I barely use Myspace anymore so guess it makes sense...

Lately the Universe is trying to tell me something. My friend has a saying that if you don't hear the Universe whispering, then you will definetly hear it scream! (Ok, she actually says "If you don't hear G-d..." But you get the idea.)

Last year I was working at a horrible job. It was terrible, stiffling, and just about squeezed me to death. So one day, I just picked up my things, turned off my computer and walked out. I didn't pass go, didn't collect the 200, nada- didn't even say anything to anyone, just got up and left. Only a bit later when I was home did I realize what I had done. I Chose. In life we have choices, but way the hell too often do we find ourselves in circumstances in which we feel trapped and in which our Big Fabulous Juicy Dream Life seems so out of our grasp.

I want more than anything to host my own Craft Television show. I know I'd be great at it. I have written so many shows that truly are fun, fabulous and unique (I'm now up to 4!) and keep peddling them around town trying to get someone to believe in my concepts as much as me. I'm REALLY pushing one right now. It's such a fantastic idea that if I told you about it, you would totally agree that it is unique, fun, superfragalistic and all that jazz and you would Definetly watch it!

I just had this amazing pitch meeting with my favorite Production Company. They seem to LOVE the idea but TV takes time. Actually it seems, it takes FOREVER. Sometimes I wonder if it will EVER happen. So alas...to the point of my story...

When I was working that awful gig, I used to save my sanity by spending my lunchbreaks at Griffith Park running around the golf course. One day I had this particuarly yucky day and was running out my frustration when I crossed paths with this other jogger. He was walking, looking down like he was looking for something. I stopped and said "Hey, can I help? Are you looking for something?" I knew he was looking for his key as any runner would attest to, losing your keys while running is up there with injury as to what you want to avoid while running.

It indeed was his key so I told him, I'd keep an eye out as I went the other way. I kept looking down for it. I wanted to find this key SO bad. I knew I was going to find the key!

Well, I didn't. I crossed him again and he hadn't found it either. I offerred my cell and my AAA but he already had a phone. For about a month after that when ever I would run there, I would look out for it but never came across it.

So, yesterday my dog and I went to the park and was just finishing up our walk when I looked down and spotted a key. I kept walking and then stopped dead in my tracks, THE KEY! I went back and picked it up. It was just a single simple key- just as he said it was. It appeared all brown and oxidized from age.

The Universe was showing me that if you REALLY believe you will get something. You will. It may take 8 months to find it and chances are it will happen when you least expect it to. But if you fully trust in all your heart that something is meant to be, if you fully Believe and do the work- It will happen.
